Class 2.3 (toxic gases) must be kept segregated from most other dangerous goods. It cannot share a container with 6 of the other classes — including Class 1.1, Class 1.3, Class 3, Class 4.2 and more. The table below gives the exact code against every class.

| Class 1.4 — Explosives (div 1.4) | 1 | May be packed in the same container but kept apart (“away from”) — not stacked against or next to each other. |
| Class 2.1 — Flammable gases | — | No general segregation requirement between these classes — check the per-substance Dangerous Goods List entry. |
